NOTICE OF VACANCIES

The Open University of Mauritius has been established on 12 July 2012 according to the Open University of Mauritius Act 2010.

The vision of the Open University of Mauritius is to be among the best open universities in the world.

The mission of Open University of Mauritius (OU) is to use technology and flexible mode of teaching to serve society and transform lives, and make high quality education, lifelong learning and training accessible to everyone while promoting excellence in research.

The Open University has a campus at Curepipe and also runs other study centres.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following posts at the Open University of Mauritius:

• Associate Professor in the field of:

• Director (Multimedia and ICT Services);
• Examinations Officer;
• Clerk/Word Processing Operator;
• Enlistment as Research Assistant; and
• Enlistment of Freelance Graphics Artist.

Post (1) is also opened to suitably qualified international (non-citizens) candidates.

A. Mode of Application:

Application should be made on the prescribed on-line application form (Click here) and the summary sheet must be downloaded and typed.  Handwritten forms will not be accepted.

B. Closing Date:

Applications must be submitted online through the website of the Open University of Mauritius, not later than 07 April 2023.  Applications received after the specified closing date and time will not be considered. 

After the online submission, candidates must print the <Confirmed Application> form as well as the typed Summary Sheet, sign each page and send same, together with signed photocopies of the following documents to the Director-General, Open University of Mauritius by registered post by 14 April 2023 at 3 30 p.m. at latest:

• birth certificate, marriage certificate (where applicable), National Identity Card, academic certificates/statement of the results;
• equivalence of qualifications (where applicable); and
• testimonial(s) from employer(s) certifying the experience required.

C. Important Notes:

1. Candidates are advised to read the Notes and Instructions to Candidates for posts (1) to (4)(click to read) carefully before filling the on-line application form as incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the on-line application form will cause the applicant’s elimination from the competition.
2. Non-compliance to the instructions will entail the rejection of the applications.
3. It is an offence to give false information or to conceal any relevant information. This may lead to an application being rejected or if a candidate has already been appointed, to the termination of his appointment.
4. Candidates who possess an equivalent qualification are required to submit an Equivalence Certificate from relevant authorities. The onus for the submission of written evidence of knowledge/experience claimed and equivalence of qualification (if applicable) from the relevant authorities (Higher Education Commission, Ex-Tertiary Education Commission or Mauritius Qualifications Authority) rests on the candidates. Applications will not be considered in case of non-submission of written evidence of knowledge claimed and Equivalence Certificate, as appropriate, by the due date.
5. The post(s) applied for should be clearly marked on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
6. Candidates applying for more than one post should send separate application form(s) and summary sheet(s) with required evidence of qualifications and experience.
7. Any candidate who fails to submit their printed and signed on-line application form together with the duly filled-in summary sheet with the required documents as specified above will be disqualified.

The Open University of Mauritius reserves the right to:

• conduct a test if necessary;
• call only the best qualified candidates for interview; and
• not to make any appointment following this advertisement.
